Thalipeeth is popular , healthy breakfast savoury snack ( flat bread) from Maharashtrian cuisine. Usually it's made from multiple flours ( bhajeeni flour) and cooked on skillet I made it from bajri/ pearl millet flour and baked in oven. Outcome was great and taste was really good.

Ingredients and spices that need to be Prepare to make Bajra Thalipeeth/ Pearl Millet Flat Bread:

  1. 1/2 cup bajri flour/ pearl millet flour
  2. 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
  3. 2 tbsp malai (fresh cream from top of boiled milk) or butter
  4. 2 tbsp curd/ dahi
  5. 1/2 tsp black pepper powder/ mari powder
  6. as per taste Salt
  7. 2 tbsp ghee/ clarified butter
  8. To serve
  9. As needed Fresh curd/ dahi

Instructions to make Bajra Thalipeeth/ Pearl Millet Flat Bread

  1. Start the oven for 10 minutes at 250 C to preheat.
  2. In mixing plate (thali) add bajri flour, chopped coriander leaves,malai,curd and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add little water to bind soft dough. Add black pepper powder. Mix and knead for 2 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into 2 equal flattened balls.
  5. Take one prepared bajri flattened ball. Place it on small plastic sheet or butter paper kept on wooden board. Cover the flattened balls with plastic sheet or butter paper. With fingers pat the bajri flattened ball with fingers to make semi thick 5" diameter round roti / flat bread. Make holes as shown with finger dip in water.
  6. Similarly prepare another. Place on greased baking tray line with baking paper. Apply or pour 1 tbsp of ghee on each prepared bajri thalipeeth.
  7. Place the baking tray in preheated oven. Keep timer for 30 minutes. Bake bajri thalipeeth at 250C for 10 minutes. Then lower the temperature at 200C and bake for 20 minutes till crispy pinkish in colour. Back side also will be crispy pinkish..see the pictures.
  8. Serve Relish healthy, delicious, hot Bajri Thalipeeth/ Pearl Millet Flat Bread with fresh curd in breakfast.
